YEAR FIVE

Your task is, either in pairs or individually, to design a powerpoint presentation for entry into the CLI Learning Resource Awards.

Up until now you have been restricted in your use of powerpoint presentation enhancement techniques, e.g. sound and movement.  However, this is now an opportunity to experiment with ways of enhancing your presentations using more unusual techniques.

YEAR SIX

Your task is, either in pairs or individually, to design a webpage to illustrate one aspect of the Library's non-fiction section.  Your work might also be considered for entry into the CLI Learning Resource Awards.

Your aim is to learn how a program such as Frontpage can be used for webpage design and then to use your computer knowledge with your library information skills to develop a resource for students of the school to use.

You will need to consider your audience.  This will depend very much on your choice of topic.  Or, go to a teacher and check out what a particular grade is working on, or will be working on, and match a subject to your chosen audience.

Week 7

Introduction to the Learning Resource Awards.

Look at previous winning entries - discuss techniques used.

Discuss the proforma which must accompany entries.

Discuss copyright.

Preparation for next week - consider learning topics which might be able to be developed - discuss with teachers.

Week 7

Introduction to the task.

Look at the structure of a website - page flowcharts, use of tables.

Introduce Frontpage and set up a webpage to 3 levels.

Examine the formatting of a table - size, layout, borders, background.

Preparation for next week - consider topics which might be able to be developed.

Week 8

Download proforma to research folder.

Determine topics to be the subject of your presentation.

Discuss enhancements that could be used.

Preparation for next week - experiment with voice recording

Week 8

Examine the use of pictures, including Word-Art, and their insertion in a webpage.  Discuss copyright.

Examine the formatting of fonts and paragraphs.

Examine the use of tables inside tables.

Determine the topic to be the subject of your presentation.

Preparation for next week - draw flowchart of pages.
