You are working for an advertising firm which has just landed a big contract. YOU have been selected as the employee to handle it.  Your job is to promote an Australian Author. 
You will create a poster or powerpoint presentation to promote the author.
Find information you think would best promote the author.  Why is this author and their books interesting?
Step 1:

Create a mind map using information about the author you have selected. Use only the most interesting information

to persuade others to read their books.

Here is an example of a mindmap on Peter Pickles. This is a model to act as a guide for your task. 

Note:  Your mindmap must be included in your presentation.

Step 2: The Advertising campaign
Task 1
         Research your chosen author to find data on the topics you have included in your mindmap. 
        These might include . . .
 
Most popular books - which ones are his/her most popular.
Interesting Facts - interesting little known facts.
Awards - any awards or honours this person has received.
Hobbies - what does this person do when he isn't writing.
Personality - how would you describe this person if they were your friend.
Issues - controversies and happenings in their life.
Achievements - personal accomplishments.
Obstacles - problems encountered during their life so far.
 
Task 2
Create a poster to advertise the author you have chosen. It must be eye-catching and promote the author. 
Remember, it will be on display so pay attention to spelling, punctuation and other small details.
Presentation
You must hand in the advertising campaign promoting the author (poster or powerpoint) incorporating the
mind map of the author
 
How will this be assessed?
Teacher Assessment:
Marks will be given for the process (mindmap and bibliography) as well as the final product (poster or powerpoint).
 
Class Assessment:
When displayed the class will also mark the work paying attention to overall impact and how persuasive it is.
This will be part of the assessment.
 
Self Assessment:
What did you find most interesting about this assignment?
What would you change?
Were there any problems?
What did you do well?
