RESPECT POEMS FOR NAIDOC WEEK

Respect

Pay respect to your elders

Through the day and the night

Look up to them

Through the day’s sunlight

Pay respect to the Aboriginals

It doesn’t matter what they wear

Because we all breathe the same air

Pay respect to your parents,

 peers and teachers

Love your enemies and pay respect to them

Even if they don’t do it to you

EXCURSION TO TARONGA ZOO

On Tuesday 17th March, Year 3 went on an excursion to Taronga Zoo. We went on a bus and we left at 9:10am. It took a very long time. When we eventually got there it was 10:10am. It took an hour to travel by bus.

First we saw the koalas. They were so cute. We also saw the elephant show (some of it) the giraffes, chimpanzees, a bear, and some of us saw a Komodo dragon.

At the Backyard to Bush we saw a bandicoot, shingleback lizard, blue tongue lizard, non-venomous diamond python and a ring tailed possum. The people that showed us the animals at the Backyard to Bush’s names were Kate and someone else I forgot their name.

I had a great time and I hope I go again sometime.

GOING TO MY COUSINS

In the holidays I went to my cousins house with my family and they live in Mona Vale on Samuel Street. We had to go because my mum had my uncle's pants for work and we had to return his pants.

When we got there our cousins welcomed us and let us in.  When we got inside we played dragons, that’s where I’m the mummy dragon and my cousins are the baby dragons and so is my sister. This is how you play it. First the mother dragon lays the eggs in her nest and then they hatch. The first thing the baby dragons do is fly away. Then the mother notices and chases after them. When the mother dragon catches all the babies she puts them in the den and the game is over. It’s so much fun. After that we ran into my cousin’s bedroom and closed the door. Then my sister said,  “I thought I just saw a dragon egg”.  Suddenly my cousin took out a drangonology book and wrote a note for the dragon.  If there was one! We also left some money and jewels for the dragon so we could make friends.  We left the room and played littlest pet sho. Then we hopped onto the couch and watched Phineas and Ferb which is a cartoon about when their mum goes out they build really weird things and their sister tries to get them into trouble.

After we watched at least 10 episodes we went to check on the jewels. They were still there. We played a bit of My Little Ponies and then it was time to eat.  We had meat and salad. I had a piece of bread so I could make a sandwich. After we ate we went into my cousin’s bedroom to check on the jewels. They were still there. Then it was time to go. I put on my shoes and gave my cousins a hug. We hopped in the car and drove off. I had lots of fun.

IN THE HOLIDAYS

In the holidays my family and I went to the pool five times. It was awesome when we jumped in to the pool! Then we went bombing. My sister Elizabeth made a huge splash. Then we had a swimming race. My mum came first but it was fun anyway.

Then came the best part!  Diving.  It was wicked!  Then it was time to go.  It was fun at the pool.

The next day we went to the movies to see Bolt.  His enemy, the green eyed man was holding his owner’s father in the dungeon. It was up to Bolt with one step forward and one step back he did a super bark. Then he was free and they got away.

The next day my friend Miles came over to play. We went in the pool and we sprayed each other with the hose. Miles hopped in the inflatable ring. I had to try and jump on to him but he kept on stopping me from doing that. But then his mum rang up and said Miles could stay for an extra hour !  We played WII Mario Kart.  I was Luigi and Miles was King Boo. Then the race started and guess what? We tied! Then we played tip outside. It was really fun then he had to go home.

IN THE HOLIDAYS

In the holidays Robby came for a sleepover and we watched Step up 2 and jumped on the bed.

The next day we dropped off Rob and went home.  We played Wii and we played Super Smash Brothers and then we watched Die Hard 4.0.  The next day I slept in until 11.00am. I got in trouble from mum and dad for sleeping in and not having breakfast!

During the last week of the holidays Lewis was so excited he kept talking about school!

POEM

 by Cassie and Lorrain 3B

If you go out at night

And wander around in the street

You’ll find that you are not alone

Cause friendly owls with fluffy towels

Are up above in the trees.

Soooo,  if you go out and see

The owls flying above your heads

You’ll soon discover that …

The owls with fluffy towels are very friendly!

THE PUFF BALL

by Luke 3W

In the year 2009 in Hornsby, there was a boy named Chris.  Chris had planted an orange tree in his back garden. This orange tree was strange, so strange that he found something that wasn’t an orange. Here is his story.

Every day, Chris took oranges from his tree.  One day, he felt something soft and furry, so he pulled it out and in his hand was a …. giant, orange, furry Puff ball.  It had dangling eyes and a pair of sneakers. “Where did you come from, little fella?” Chris asked the Puff ball. The Puff ball replied with a squeak and looked up at the sky. So, Chris thought that this thing had come from outer space. Suddenly, it squealed, “My name is… Crypto the Puff ball.” Then a huge space ship appeared and they were both zapped up to the space ship.

Inside, Chris woke up in a tube. He could see lots of Puff balls. He knocked on the tube and screamed, “Let me out!”. The Puff balls shook their bodies. One fell on to a button.

When Chris woke up in his bed, “What happened?” he said....

The End

HOW STRANGE

by Orana 3W

There was once a boy who was 6 years old. He lived in an old cottage in the countryside. His name was Luke. He loved dresses.

One day Luke went to find the underwater clothes shop in Fishland. He took his dog, Sandy, with him. He walked over to the stream in a frilly frock. When he got there, it was frozen.

“That’s strange,” Luke said, “It’s summer!”

“Woof, woof,” barked Sandy.

Suddenly, he heard tapping. “Get me out of here,” said a cross voice.  They jumped on the ice and out popped a stickleback with joggers and a soccer numbered shirt.

“How do we get past, Sir Stickleback?’ asked Luke.

“Ruff Ruff?” asked Sandy.

“Get a boat of course,” said Stickleback.

“Let’s get Dad’s old rowboat,” said Luke.

He ran off and came back dragging a rusty rowboat. They rowed past the stream.

“Now, we’ll walk across the meadow,” Luke said. So, they did.

“STOP TREADING ON ME1’ said a voice.

“Who said that?” wondered Luke.

“Me, Bluebell.” “Me,Daisy.” “Me,Marigold.” “Me,Violet,” said lots of voices.

“But, I can’t fly,” argued Luke.

“Yes you can. There are wings on your back,” said the flowers.

“Ok,” sighed Luke, “I’ll try.”

Sure enough, he did fly.
