Students in 1B were inspired by
Van Gogh and his use of beautiful colours. They looked around
the school to photograph as many colours as they could find.
These photos were then used by the computer program AndreaMosaic to
create a photo mosaic of Van Gogh's paining "Cafe at Night".

Throughout the year we have seen examples of
ways people decorate their body for different occasions. On
Harmony Day we found out about "mendhi" which is the application of
henna as a form of skin decoration in South Asia and North Africa.
At the beginning of Term 2 we were visited by an Aboriginal
performer. He taught us that body painting is also an
important part of the artistic heritage of Aboriginal Australia.
Aboriginal people use ochre, a natural pigment to create paint for
use in traditional rituals and ceremonies.
Our work is based on the artist
David Hockney. We used a computer program to insert our photo,
select a background colour and create our own photo collage.
We could shuffle the pieces until we liked the final product.
3W has been looking at Buddhist
mandalas which are concentric diagrams that have spiritual or ritual
significance. Each of us chose patterns that appealed to us,
and we have coloured them to reflect our likes and personalities.
