K-2 FUN DAY

NETBALL COMPETITION

CLIMBING TOWER CHALLENGE

MULTI-CULTURAL DAY ASSEMBLY

The rain stopped, the sun beamed down upon Hornsby North and rich colourful costumes were in abundance. Thank you to all, particularly Mrs. Muir and Signora Baitieri for making our Multicultural event such a memorable happy day. The support from parents, teachers, relatives and the wider community was overwhelming and I thank you all for continuing to make our school a supportive, nurturing environment where all are valued for their unique qualities and heritage. Teachers have spoken to me about the wonderful feeling among cultures and the spectacular national costumes. Congratulations to the Aussie kids who did such a great job with their version of an Australian National Costume. I am sure we could patent some and develop an industry! Last but certainly not least, the food was delicious!

NETBALL  - Winners of the Netball Grand Final

ATHLETICS CARNIVAL
OLYMPIC SPORTS DAY

As the Olympics in Beijing got under way, Hornsby North staged their very own Olympics at the school venue. The day began with a colourful flag waving march by students representing various countries. As the Hornsby North Olympians moved to the set activities, enthusiasm and participation were high. The older students looked after the younger ones and some students discovered they could skip, throw the discus and row on the assembly hall floor! The medal winners for the day were:

Gold - United States of America          Silver - Russia          Bronze - Australia

Ireland won the giant relay and Saudi Arabia and France won the awards for the best dressed countries. We all know it was the bread loaf used as a drum stick by France that gained the team members extra points.  All in all it was a great day!

TREE DAY

RUGBY - Florimo and Gary Larson Cups
On Wednesday 30th July, three teams from Hornsby North participated in the Florimo Cup and Gary Larson Cup Gala Days.  The first picture below shows some of our Junior Boys Team who triumphed over all other schools being undefeated in the competition winning all six games.  The final score of 5 tries to 4 indicates the intensity of the games. The second photo show our Senior Girls who struggled valiantly to reach the semi-finals.  The third photo shows our Senior Boys who started slowly but by the last two games had got themselves into gear and won them well.
