On Friday, May 30 the Year 5/6 Choir went to the Hornsby Mall for
Hornsby Shire’s annual event of “Children’s Voices for
Reconciliation”. This year the ceremony was particularly significant
as the theme of the Prime Minister’s history making sorry message
was evident throughout the entire program. The children witnessed a
smoking ceremony, learnt about the Aboriginal’s love of nature and
their sacred environmental views, and heard about the heartache
suffered by the stolen generation.
MEET THE AUTHOR
During Book Week we were visited
by Jenny Blackman, the author of Our Enemy, My Friend: The Diary
of Emma Shelldrake. Jenny told us how she came to write
her book which looks at intolerance in our society during the First
World War.
