J-ROCK GRAND FINAL

The following photographs of the performance were taken by WinkiPop Media of 129 Greenwich Road Greenwich NSW 2065.

Our brilliant J Rock team competed in the grand finals at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. Very proud parents and teachers watched from the audience and applauded them when they won awards for Excellence in Concept, Stage Use and Set Design and Function. It was a very long day for everyone, particularly the younger students with a 6.30am start and home at around midnight. Parents who assisted on the day reported that the children were wonderful with not a cross word from teachers, students or parents. It was certainly a tribute to our school. Congratulations J Rock students, teachers and parents.

OUR BANDS AT THE STATE BANDS FESTIVAL

Mrs Sumpton reports:  GOLD and SILVER were the cries from the band members, the conductors, parents and Mrs Moyes after our bands performed at the New South Wales State Band competition. It was a glorious sunny day on Sunday when Training Band and supporters arrived at the University of NSW for a  9am start. These magnificent beginners under the tutelage of Kate played their hearts out with creative actions and clear notes to win a well deserved Silver Award. At 1pm it was Concert Band II’s turn to demonstrate their talents. Under the calm, capable guidance of Kelvin, Concert Band II prepared for their performance and when they arrived on stage they looked immaculate and ready to play in a professional manner. Concert Band II did not disappoint! Against strong opposition they too gained a Silver Award. At 3.45pm, the weather was still picture perfect as Concert Band I  prepared for their performance in one of the highest grades for Primary Students. With many hours of practice behind them and a stunning performance at the Swing City Concert two weeks ago, these musicians were set to win gold. At the conclusion of this section of the performances students, parents and the Principal waited with excited anticipation. When the announcer called, “Hornsby North - GOLD”, the cheers were loud and clear.

Congratulations to all bands! It was a wonderful day.
